A cold front swept across the region late Christmas Eve and into Christmas morning, bringing showers and gusty winds to some areas.
Rain amounts were mostly within predictions of up to 1/4 of an inch in the valleys. Notable exceptions included Fallbrook, where a rather high 0.73 inches was recorded. This stands in stark contrast to nearby De Luz, a normally equally wet location, where only 0.22 inches was observed - a difference of over half an inch. Additionally, an impressive 0.72 inches was reported in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas). Other notable totals included 0.41 inches in East Hemet, as well as 0.34 inches in Yucaipa (courtesy of Don Kramer). Other WeatherCurrents stations recorded totals under 1/3 of an inch. Some locations to the north, however, such as Pinon Hills and Simi Valley, did not record any measurable rainfall. WeatherCurrents stations in Perris and San Diego (City Heights) remained down. A total of 0.13 inches was also reported in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington).
Following the cold front, a cold northerly flow replaced it. High Pressure is slated to develop over the weekend, bringing offshore flow and keeping conditions dry through the New Year.
