A weak trough brought unsettled weather, cooler temperatures, and scattered showers to the region Sunday, with rain totals ranging from under 1/10 of an inch to under half an inch in favorable locations.
Many communities received only light rainfall, if any at all, resulting in no measurable rainfall at most weather stations. Some communities, however, received short bursts of heavy rainfall throughout the day Sunday. Rainfall was generally higher in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Simi Valley, west of Los Angeles, recorded the highest storm total in the WeatherCurrents network, a total of 0.39 inches as of Sunday night.
A major storm with is forecast to arrive Tuesday, tapping into subtropical moisture, and is therefore expected to be a warm storm - but also very wet. Rain totals in excess of one inch are predicted for the Inland valleys. That storm is predicted to depart the region by Thursday.
