A late-season Pacific storm brought rain and wind to most of the region overnight Friday and Saturday.
Rainfall was highest in the Riverside-San Bernardino valley and vicinity, which is not typical of most winter storms. The area from Moreno Valley to the San Bernardino Mountains experienced heavy rainfall late Friday night. The highest storm total was 1.02 inches reported by Peter Michas in East Highland. Cherry Valley, Beaumont, San Bernardino, Jurupa Valley, Riverside, Moreno Valley and San Jacinto also recorded totals in excess of four tenths of an inch.
Other areas did not fare nearly as well from the storm. In the Temecula Valley, Lake Elsinore recorded the lowest total with just .01" . West of Los Angeles, Simi Valley only recorded .02" . Even typically wet locations such as De Luz and Fallbrook, both recorded relatively low rain totals (0.18" and 0.10" , respectively).
Most other communities recorded between 1/10 and 1/3 of an inch. WeatherCurrents' station in Anza was being repaired Saturday; storm totals for that location have been substituted using a nearby station unaffiliated with WeatherCurrents.
The storm was also noted for strong wind gusts overnight. Many inland communities recorded gusts between 25mph and 40mph shortly after midnight Saturday. In northeast Temecula, Michael Mojarro reported a gust of 49mph early Saturday morning.
