A cutoff low moved over the region on Monday and produced showers in most areas through Tuesday evening. The storm did not live up to expectations for many areas, however some communities were lucky and received more rainfall. Rainfall from the storm was sporadic, with isolated downpours occurring in some areas, while other locations received nothing at all. Storm totals in the WeatherCurrents network ranged from up to 0.25" in South Fallbrook to only 0.01" in Perris, Lake Elsinore and Wildomar. WeatherCurrents stations in Menifee, Moreno Valley, Simi Valley, and the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego did not record any measurable rainfall. Monty Parrott, a frequent contributor to WeatherCurrents, reported only a trace of rainfall in East San Jacinto. On the wetter end of the storm, South Temecula and Beaumont (Cherry Valley) both recorded 0.22". In South Temecula, the sporadic nature of the storm is evident when looking at the total from South Temecula (located in the Redhawk area) and southeast Temecula, where Jim Purpura recorded 0.07" - a difference of 0.15" over just about two miles. A notable total of 0.35" was recorded by Jim Sappington in Temecula Valley's Wine Country. The storm took an inland track over the state, resulting in less moisture and rainfall in general. A brief warming trend is forecast for late this week, before returning to cool temperatures. Here are the rain totals for the WeatherCurrents network and associates:
