Landspout Spotted in Lake Elsinore Hills

There have reports of a landspout east of Interstate 15 this afternoon around 3pm in the hills of Lake Elsinore. The approximate location was between Railroad Canyon and Central Ave. WeatherCurrents originally reported the landspout as a tornado, based on reports from onlookers. Although technically a landspout is a type of tornado, it's formed from the bottom up rather than top down like the tornado that hit Temecula several days ago. Many of the cars on I-15 were pulled over to watch as the landspout kicked up dirt in the local hills. It apparently spun in an uninhabited area and then subsequently broke up. No damage or injuries have been reported. Reports by Colleen Frazier and Brian Endres contributed to this story. |
