A cutoff low pressure system over the southern Great Basin, riding on the heels of the recently-passed remnants of Hurricane Rachel, brought showers and cooler temperatures to the region late Monday into Tuesday morning.
Precipitation totals were much lower than the previous storm - ranging from 0.57 inches in East Hemet, to 0.03 inches in both Pinon Hills and Simi Valley to the north. The majority of WeatherCurrents stations received totals between 0.1 and 0.25 inches. Clear skies prevailed by Tuesday evening, before the abrupt arrival of Santa Ana Winds to parts of the region Wednesday morning. Santa Ana Winds are forecast to continue through Saturday, coupled with significantly warmer-than-normal temperatures. Rain chances return along with cooler temperatures around Monday-Tuesday of next week.
