A powerful low pressure system is bringing widespread moderate-to-heavy rainfall, high-elevation snow and very windy conditions to the region Tuesday, in what is the region's first significant storm of the 2022-2023 rainy season.

Pre-frontal showers began bringing rain to the region Monday, becoming heavier and more consistent Tuesday morning and continuing throughout the day. Strong winds have accompanied the storm. Showers continued into Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, gradually decreasing in both intensity and frequency. Preliminary storm totals have been modestly wet everywhere, with the majority of WeatherCurrents stations receiving between one and two inches of rain from the storm as a whole as of 2 AM Wednesday morning. Snow levels initially started high, above 7000 feet, but are lowering overnight into Wednesday morning down to approximately 5000 feet.

Cool, below-average temperatures will be left in the storm's wake as it travels eastward toward the Rocky Mountains. Offshore flow is forecast to make a brief appearance late in the week.
