Several fires burning in Camp Pendleton, approximately 15 miles southwest of Temecula, were reported early Tuesday afternoon. The fires were responsible for the smoky conditions in the Temecula Valley and surrounding foothills this afternoon.

High temperatures and low humidities created high fire danger Tuesday. According to Cal Fire, the fires were in no danger of burning outside of the Camp Pendleton base.
