Winds began to blow across portions of the Banning Pass overnight Tuesday, and the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for that area through Thursday afternoon.
Winds have been gusting over 30 mph in some locations. Wind gusts to 55 mph are possible today and Thursday with the strongest gusts overnight and in the mornings.
High pressure building over the Great Basin is bringing gusty offshore winds to this area. The east winds increase in speed as they are squeezed through the Banning Pass.
Motorists along California Highway 60 and Interstate 10, especially those in high profile vehicles, should be extra cautious.
