Posted June 20, 2011, 5:44 PM.Hot weather has been non-existent all spring in Southern California's inland valleys, but made an entrance Monday on the season's final full day. With summer just a day away, Lake Elsinore registered 101.4°F and Wildomar 101.6°F in what was the hottest day of the year to date. The heat was predicted, but the hot weather was early; forecasts just this morning had the heat wave peaking on Tuesday and/or Wednesday. Other significant temperatures were recorded in Menifee (99°F), and Hemet (98°F), also in the middle band of Western Riverside County. Further north, Perris, Moreno Valley and Beaumont topped out at 95°F and San Bernardino was also a very warm 94°F. At the other end of the spectrum, Fallbrook recorded a relatively mild 79°F, De Luz was just 83°F, and Temecula was 89°F. After a couple more hot days to start the summer season, a cooling trend is expected to end the week. |
