A cold storm brought February rainfall to near normal in the inland valleys last weekend.
Nearly all of the rain fell on Saturday, in moderate to heavy amounts at times, with showers trailing in Saturday night and early Sunday.
Other than a few crashes and some road closures (due to flooding), Southwest Riverside and Northern San Diego counties got through the storm just fine.
Rain totals at WeatherCurrents automated gauges ranged from 0.30" in Hemet to a heft 1.42" in Fallbrook.
Other large totals were 1.29" in De Luz, 1.17" in Murrieta, 1.04" in Moreno Valley, 0.98" in Temecula, 0.97" in Wildomar and 0.77" in Lake Elsinore.
1.30" was recorded in the Temecula Valley Wine Country by Jim Sappington, and 1.20" in the South Fallbrook area by R.C. Blankenhorn.
It was the second storm of the week, and the second straight wet weekend. Another storm arriving this coming weekend would make this the third wet weekend in a row if predictions hold.
At the storm's end, February was slightly above average for Temecula (3.84" for last month, 3.64" average) and Fallbrook (4.42" for last month, 4.03" average). It was slightly under average for Murrieta (4.09" for last month, 4.15"), Lake Elsinore (3.31" for last month, 3.90" average), Hemet (2.83" for last month, 3.13" average), and Menifee (2.36" for last month, 2.69" average).
The Perris rain gauge continued to be inoperable through this latest storm. Repairs had been scheduled for Saturday morning but were postponed due to the rain. A wiring problem is the latest suspect there.
