Wednesday was the hottest day of the year so far, with many areas in western Riverside County experiencing temperatures in excess of 100°F. Lake Elsinore and Menifee Valley led the way with 107°F. The coolest spot in the WeatherCurrents network was Fallbrook, in San Diego County with a high temperature of 87°F. Western Riverside County's cool spot was De Luz with a high temperature of 95°F.
Near record or record heat is expected again today, with high pressure fueling afternoon temperatures much like yesterday. A lot of high clouds in the region should make humidities a little higher as well. Some cooling is expected Friday and Saturday, but for the most part, the region appears to be locked in this year's first prolonged heat wave.
