The fires, dubbed the Pipeline Fire and Volcano Fire, are burning in southern Camp Pendleton and next to the Santa Rosa Plateau, respectively. The Pipeline Fire, burning near the intersection of Stuart Mesa Road and Hammond Drive in the southern portion of Camp Pendleton, was first reported on Monday around 2 PM, and has burned approximately 1,064 acres as of Tuesday afternoon. The Volcano Fire was reported just before 3 PM, and is burning dense brush near the intersection of Tenaja Road and Via Volcano, just west of the Santa Rosa Plateau. As of 5 PM Tuesday, the fire had burned 77 acres. While no structures have been lost and no injuries reported from both fires as of Tuesday afternoon, evacuation orders have been issued in the La Cresta community. |
