So much for the predicted dry winter. As Southern California was targeted by the jet stream for a few days, a series of fronts dumped rain and mountain snow, with the totals variable but some of them very heavy.
Rain totals were between 1.7" and 5.1" across the inland valleys of Western Riverside and Northern San Diego counties. Following a recent trend, the Temecula area led the way, with De Luz recording the most of the WeatherCurrents stations at 4.54", followed by the Temecula station at 3.71", then Fallbrook at 3.50".
Totals around just the Temecula Valley ranged from 2.03" to 5.1".
Drier locations include Hemet (1.93"), Riverside (1.72"), Perris (1.70"), and Sun City (1.70").
There were some issues with readings in Murrieta and Lake Elsinore. The station in Lake Elsinore suffered from a data outage, and the final total should be slightly higher than the 2.12" when a reading from Sunday night is manually added in.
Murrieta's data for the storm (3.03") was partially extrapolated from another station nearby when its rain gauge clogged.
De Luz took the season total lead from Temecula with this storm, with 10.00" to Temecula's 9.52".
