Apparently no additional homes were burned Tuesday as winds lessened in the area. Most homes burned were in the Live Oak and Reche Road areas, and down at the Pala Mesa Resort, where condos burned and the resort itself did not survive. The central Fallbrook area is apparently intact so far, and WeatherCurrents' Fallbrook weather station in south Fallbrook near one of the fire stations continued normal operations.

The Rice Canyon Fire had three fronts Tuesday evening (north of Reche Road near Live Oak Park, Rainbow Glen and I15 (near Red Mountain), and out at Rice Canyon Road in Rainbow. Interstate 15 through the Fallbrook area has been open off and on Tuesday. According to one report from someone who drove through it, there is a lot of smoke and flames can be seen close to the roadway.

The Rosa Fire, in the eastern De Luz area, just west of Temecula, has burned 411 acres as of 4pm Tuesday. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, it was 50% contained, with full containment expected Wednesday. Residents who had been evacuated earlier in the morning were being allowed to return.

The Roca Fire, in the Aguanga area about ten miles east of Temecula, has regressed to 90% containment Tuesday, according to Cal Fire. It had previously been reported contained on Monday afternoon. The burn area is 270 acres, and one home has been reported lost.

Smoke from a Poomacha Fire in the Pauba Valley, east of Pala and Fallbrook and over the Palomar Mountain range from the Temecula Valley, was heavy and prominent in the air Tuesday, and could be seen clearly from Temecula and Murrieta. The fire began this morning on the La Jolla Indian Reservation as a structure fire, and has reportedly burned 20,000 acres, according to Cal Fire. 50 homes have been destroyed so far.

The Poomacha Fire has reportedly caused Valley Center to be evacuated, according to a Village News story. Some of the Palomar community had been evacuated, apparently up the mountain to the Palomar observatory. The fire is burning out of control and was spreading in several directions.

The latest reports had Pala Casino still open in spite of evacuations from the Pala Reservation. One front of the fire was burning up South Grade Road on Palomar Mountain, and firefighters were setting backfires.

The Rincon Hidden Meadows and Deer Springs areas were also threatened by the Poomacha fire.

The Temecula area does not appear to be immediately threatened by the Poomacha fire.

Two other fires have started Tuesday on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base. The first, the Ammo Fire, has burned 350 acres near the ammo dump. Two areas of the base, 50 and 53, have been evacuated. The second, the Wilcox Fire, was reportedly 13 acres in size.
