April Storm Totals Are Most This Year

Posted April 25, 2007, 10:32 AM.

Rainfall in Riverside and San Diego Counties on April 20th and April 22nd-23rd totaled the most in a meager rain year.

In many inland communities, the rainfall on April 20th represented the single largest storm amount of the season. Temecula's 0.61", De Luz's 0.59", Sun City's 0.60", Murrieta's 0.51", Lake Elsinore's 0.36" and Riverside's 0.35" were all the best of the year. Fallbrook's 0.80" came close to 0.81" on January 30th.

Despite the additional rainfall, Western Riverside County remained on track for the worst rainfall season of the decade. Temecula's worst total was 3.87" in 2001-2002.

Fallbrook had just 3.31" in 2001-2002, and this year's 6.09" to date was far better.

Data for other communities for the 2001-2002 rain season was not available for comparison. Most WeatherCurrents installations are newer.
