Posted October 29, 2006, 10:40 AM.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) for 2006 ended at 2am Sunday morning, Otober 29th, when clocks returned to Pacific Standard Time, 1am. Please remember to set your clocks back one hour.
A consequence of the end of DST is that sunrise will be around 6am for a while, and sunset will be near 5pm.
Next year, Daylight Saving Time begins earlier and ends later in the United States, the result of energy legislation passed in 2005. It will begin on March 11th, the second Sunday in March, and end on November 2nd, the first Sunday in November.
DST was first established in the United States in 1918, during World War I. The beginning and end of DST wasn't uniform until a 1966 act of congress. |
