By Reginald Stanley. Posted January 27, 2025, 10:21 PM.A cold low pressure system delivered much-needed rain and mountain snow to the region beginning Saturday night, continuing on and off throughout Sunday and Monday morning. The storm was convective in nature but not particularly strong, much of the region received bursts light to moderate rain between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Following a break in the rain for most of the day Sunday, rain bands returned to the region Sunday evening, continuing into Monday morning. Precipitation totals for the inland valleys generally fell between 1/2 and 1 inch, although some eastern valleys were drier. Simi Valley recorded the highest amount from the storm with 1.24 inches. WeatherCurrents stations in Fallbrook, Murrieta and French Valley were also on the wetter side of the storm. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, a total of 0.83 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). East Hemet, Anza and Moreno Valley were considerably less wet, less than 1/2 inch of rain was recorded in those communities. The low pressure system had moved east into Arizona by Monday's end, with some return moisture wrapping around it and creating small chances for light showers into Tuesday, mainly in the mountains. Weak ridging will bring warmer, drier weather to the region late in the week, before another chance of precipitation may be possible next week. Here are the rain totals for the WeatherCurrents network and associates:
