January 27, 2008: The stored water is funneled back into the gauge. The rain gauge can be heard tipping about three or four times a minute. This process takes about 15 minutes to get all the water from the bucket back in. Once done, the storm reading is accurate, and the rain gauge is clean until the next set of birds come along.
