Wildomar Weather Station Now Online
Posted July 20, 2008, 4:45 PM
|
This afternoon the Wildomar weather station began transmitting data to the WeatherCurrents web server, and became the 12th station in the WeatherCurrents network.
The addition of the Wildomar weather site fills a gap in WeatherCurrents' network in Western Riverside County. WeatherCurrents now provides continuous coverage of communities up Interstate 15 from Fallbrook in San Diego County to Lake Elsinore.
The Wildomar station is located west of Interstate 15, in the area bounded by Corydon and Central Ave, and Palomar and Grand. It's approximately 8 miles southeast of the Lake Elsinore station, and 4 miles northwest of the Murrieta station. It's also about 8 miles southwest of the Menifee station.
A big thank you to Bruce Quimby, whose home hosts the station. Bruce performed a lot of the work to help get the station installed and online.
The Wildomar station installation, for various reasons, had taken the longest from time we began seeking volunteers to installation. We began looking for volunteers about four years ago, and selection of a location and installation had been repeatedly delayed.
Most WeatherCurrents weather stations are at the homes of volunteers in their respective communities. We are seeking volunteers for several communities in three counties (Riverside, San Diego and San Bernardino) at the moment.
A few WeatherCurrents stations are owned by others who provide the data to WeatherCurrents. The Hemet, De Luz, Riverside and Perris stations are examples. Riverside and Perris were installed by WeatherCurrents and contain some WeatherCurrents equipment.
With luck, stations in French Valley, Corona and Temescal Valley will be added in the next year or so. |
