Weak cold front brings only sprinkles south of Simi Valley

By Reginald Stanley. Posted February 28, 2019, 6:25 PM.

A weakening cold front broke up over the region late Wednesday night and Thursday morning, bringing showers to Simi Valley, and little to no rainfall in areas to the south and east.

Only two WeatherCurrents stations recorded measurable precipitation from the cold front. Simi Valley received 0.38 inches overall, while Riverside (Presidential Park) managed to pick up 0.02 inches. Drizzle and sprinkles were reported elsewhere, however it did not amount to measurable precipitation. Snow levels hovered between 7,000 and 8,000 feet above sea level. Following cool, partly cloudy weather for the remainder of Thursday and Friday, a more significant storm is forecast to bring rain and mountain snow to the region late Friday night and Saturday. In the valleys, precipitation amounts are predicted between half an inch and one inch through Sunday. Snow levels are expected to remain above 7,000 feet above sea level. Additional chances for wet weather are possible next week.
