Rainfall Lighter Than Expected

Rainfall across southern Riverside and northern San Diego counties was lighter than predictions as of mid-day Saturday. Original predictions had called for the main storm energy to pass over the area Saturday morning, and deposit between 0.5" to 0.8" of rain. Instead, most communities in the area had received about 0.25" or less of rain. Lake Elsinore led local storm totals mid-day Saturday (the last full day of winter) with 0.69". Temecula had received 0.38" from the storm, Fallbrook 0.40", De Luz 0.33", and Murrieta and Hemet 0.27". Menifee Valley received the least amount of rainfall at 0.12". The National Weather Service was predicting another tenth of an inch or less through Sunday from storm remnants. Scattered showers might lead to some communities receiving more rain than others. The rainfall pushed Murrieta and Fallbrook above 35" for the season to date. |
