By Reginald Stanley. Thursday's winds will be moderate-to-strong across wind-prone locations. Northeast winds from 35 to 45 mph are forecast across the inland valleys and foothills today, with locally higher gusts possible at more wind-prone locations. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the inland valleys through 6 PM Thursday evening. Damaging winds may occur near Beaumont and San Jacinto, as well as the San Diego County mountains. Very low humidities will exacerbate critical fire weather conditions into Friday. In addition, a cold low pressure system from the north is forecast to bring perhaps the first meaningful rains of the season to the region Sunday through Tuesday - this system will be cold with convection, with chances of thunderstorms. Current precipitation total projections for the inland valleys range from 1/2 to 3/4 inches, with the best chances for precipitation across San Diego County. Snow levels are expected to start out between 4000 and 5000 feet Sunday afternoon, dropping to between 3000 and 4000 feet above sea level Monday. |
