Flood Advisory issued Sunday morning

By Reginald Stanley. Posted March 31, 2024, 9:45 AM.

Several waves of particularly heavy precipitation have been impacting parts of the region Sunday morning as the core of the low pressure system draws closer to Southern California.

Early Sunday morning, a cluster of heavy precipitation cells began forming offshore very near Southern California moving northeast at a slow rate. These cells began impacting coastal and inland areas Sunday morning around 8 AM, delivering heavy rain to some communities - prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Advisory through 10:15 AM Sunday morning for northwestern San Diego County and southwestern Riverside County. The affected areas include Camp Pendleton, the southern Santa Ana Mountains, Fallbrook, De Luz, La Cresta, and the Temecula Valley. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas may occur during this period due to thunderstorms and heavy rain affecting the region caused by excessive rainfall. Attempting to drive across flooded corridors may result in a loss of life and vehicles, and is strongly advised against. WeatherCurrents stations in Lake Elsinore, Murrieta and French Valley have observed heavy precipitation this morning.
