Monday Roca Fire Update from Aguanga

As of 7am this morning, 260 acres had been burned in Aguanga in what has been dubbed the Roca fire. The Roca fire remained the most significant brush fire in Riverside County. Several larger fires were burning Monday morning to the south in San Diego County, including one reported in the Rice Canyon area south of Rainbow and north of Highway 76. One structure was reported burned, and one fifth wheel apparently suffered severe wind damage. The fire was 60% contained as of 7am and Highway 371 between SR-79 and Wilson Valley Road had been reopened. Residents of the Jojoba Hills Recreational Park had been evacuated last night to the Temecula Community Center at Rancho Vista and Margarita Roads. Some may remember memorable snow pictures from November, 2004 that were taken at the Jojoba Hills Recreational Park, and were posted on this site. Winds in the area were reported at 40-60 mph. |
