Twin storms set to make this week wet

By Jim Purpura and John C. Toman. Posted April 8, 2012, 8:28 PM.

Warm weather this past weekend is about to go away, and will be replaced with a wet weather pattern that is predicted to last into next weekend.

The first storm will travel across Southern California late Tuesday night and Wednesday, bringing much cooler weather, light to moderate rain, and snow in the mountains. Rain will average about 1/2 inch in the valleys, and up to 1.5 inches on southwest facing mountain slopes. Snow levels will eventually fall to 5,500 feet on Wednesday, with several inches of snow above that level. Gusty southwest to west winds will also be the rule.

The second storm currently looks to be colder and stronger and will impact the region Thursday night through Saturday. Although it's still a bit too early for specifics, rain and snow amounts could exceed the midweek storm, and snow levels could fall to 4500 feet. Gusty winds will also accompany this storm.
