Red Flag Warning Posted For Sunday through Tuesday: Extreme Fire Danger

The National Weather Service has posted a red flag warning for Sunday morning through Tuesday morning, indicating extreme fire danger. At the coast, a fire weather watch was in effect. Offshore winds are expected to rev up Sunday morning, and may gust to 35 mph. Coupled with very low relative humidities and rising heat, fire danger is expected to be very high. Some inland areas may experience blowing dust. The forecast confidence for fire conditions was very high, according to the National Weather Service on Saturday. As is usually the case with Santa Ana wind conditions, surface high pressure in the Great Basin area, in Nevada and Utah, is the cause. Temperatures in inland communities were expected to rise from the lower to middle 80's on Sunday to near 100°F by Wednesday. |
