A low pressure system moved quickly through the region Thursday, bringing showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon.
Precipitation totals are largely consistent across the Inland Empire and WeatherCurrents network, with most communities receiving between half an inch and one inch of rainfall Thursday. Widespread thunder was also reported early Thursday afternoon as the bulk of precipitation moved through. Hemet topped the storm totals roundup with 0.93 inches. Geographically diverse locations such as Anza, Simi Valley, and Fallbrook all recorded similar storm totals. The lowest storm total was 0.38 inches in Riverside's Presidential Park, followed by 0.44 inches in Northwest Murrieta. The only other WeatherCurrents station to record under 0.50 was Pinon Hills, with 0.48 inches. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 0.77 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). A total of 0.64 inches was also reported in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas).
The storm departed Thursday evening, followed by a short break from the wet weather on Friday.
