By Reginald Stanley. Posted December 9, 2019, 3:43 PM.Moist southwest flow, followed by a relatively warm trough of low pressure brought scattered showers and drizzle to the region throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday across the region. Storm totals varied among locations even in close proximity to each other, given the selective and showery nature of the storm. Not all communities received measurable precipitation on all days, while others recorded relatively high amounts in favorable locations. The highest four-day total was 0.95 inches reported in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas), while the wettest station in the WeatherCurrents network was Simi Valley with 0.73 inches. The inland cities of Hemet and San Jacinto, despite being located directly next to each other, both received vastly different amounts of rain since Friday - Hemet recorded a relatively wet 0.68 inches, while nearby San Jacinto was much drier with only 0.22 inches. In Yucaipa, 0.63 inches was reported (courtesy of Don Kramer) while in Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 0.44 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). The driest locations this weekend appeared to be Riverside - where only 0.03 inches was recorded in Riverside's Orangecrest, as well as 0.13 inches in Riverside's Presidential Park. Parts of the Temecula Valley, such as Murrieta, Wildomar and French Valley, were largely missed by most passing showers and recorded low precipitation totals as a result, in contrast to the much wetter Temecula to the south and Lake Elsinore to the north. Similar to the case of Hemet and San Jacinto, the neighboring communities of Moreno Valley and Perris also observed contrasting storm totals - 0.54 inches and 0.27 inches, respectively. To the north, Pinon Hills recorded 0.25 inches since Friday. Residual moisture had cleared out of the region by Monday morning as high pressure develops. Here are the rain totals for the WeatherCurrents network and associates for December 6th through the 9th:
