Less wind, warmer days through Thursday

Posted November 30, 2010, 12:49 PM.

Offshore flow is beginning to wane, and with it, so are some of the dry winds that have been blowing about the inland valleys the past couple of days.

Winds speeds peaked on Monday, and were blowing in some communities through the night. They were strongest in Riverside, with maximum gusts of 35 mph recorded in Canyon Crest.

Elsewhere, conditions were milder. Perris and Lake Elsinore had gusts to 26 mph, Moreno Valley and Fallbrook to 23 mph, Temecula and Murrieta to 22 mph, and Menifee to 20 mph.

Breezes from the east were still prevalent on Tuesday, but were already much calmer.

The dry conditions led to cold conditions in most locations Monday and Tuesday mornings, and freezing conditions in some, including the lowest temperatures of the year to date.

Low temperatures were 28°F in Menifee and 29°F in San Jacinto on Tuesday, and 31°F in Murrieta and Temecula.

On Monday morning, Temecula was just 29°F and Murrieta 30°F. Menifee was 31°F.

Low temperatures are predicted to go back up to the 40's by the end of the week, when onshore flow returns.

Warmer daytime temperatures are also predicted. Most inland valley communities will be in the upper 60's or lower 70's through Friday.
