A trough brought scattered light showers to most of the region Thursday, with residual showers continuing after midnight in some communities early Friday morning.

In most locations away from the mountains, totals were light, averaging around 0.10 inches and less. One particularly notable exception was in East Highland, benefiting from its favorable location along the slopes of the San Bernardino Mountains - where an impressive total of 1.28 inches was reported (courtesy of Peter Michas). In the WeatherCurrents network, Anza recorded the highest total with 0.46 inches. To the north, Simi Valley recorded a modest 0.23 inches. The majority of the remaining WeatherCurrents stations recorded much lower totals, between 0.11 inches in East Hemet and 0.04 inches in nearby San Jacinto. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 0.11 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Southern Temecula and Fallbrook were also affected by lingering light showers around midnight. A large portion of Murrieta, northern Temecula, French Valley, Menifee, Sun City and southern Perris were all affected by a noticeable rain shadow cast by the Santa Ana Mountains during Thursday's showers - very low totals were observed in these areas, where either 0.01 inch or no measurable rain at all was recorded. WeatherCurrents' station in Pinon Hills, well north of Los Angeles, was the only station in the network to not record any measurable precipitation Thursday.

Remaining clouds and moisture associated with the passing trough gradually departed to the east on Friday. Slight warming under high pressure is forecast to take place over the weekend before a stronger, wetter storm is due to arrive on Monday.
