Summer-like temperatures dominate Friday, Saturday inland

By John C. Toman. Posted April 22, 2012, 4:42 PM.

The heat began receding Saturday evening and into Sunday, but Friday and Saturday featured some of the hottest temperatures of the year to date, especially inland.

On Saturday, the first triple digit temperature of the year were recorded in Lake Elsinore (100°F). Wildomar recorded 101°F on Friday and 100°F on Saturday. Menifee registered 99°F and Perris had 98°F on Saturday. Beaumont's Cherry Valley had 90°F, relatively cool by comparison but still the warmest day of the year there to date.

For Friday, Riverside's 98°F, San Bernardino's 98°F, Hemet's 98°F, Moreno Valley's 97°F, Jurupa Valley's 97°F and Simi Valley's 97°F were the warmest for each of their respective locations for the year.

Friday also brought the warmest temperatures of the year in French Valley (94°F), Murrieta (94°F) and Temecula (95°F), but failed to make the hot range.

San Diego County was spared the hot temperatures, with onshore flow remaining pretty firmly intact. City Heights stayed a nice 73°F, and Fallbrook registered a mild 77°F Saturday, following 79°F Friday.

Onshore flow is expected to dominate the new week. Morning low clouds are predicted to be prevalent for the first part of the week, then a major late-season storm is gunning for the region Wednesday and Thursday, packing between 0.5" and 1.5" of rain.
