Tomorrow's storm downgraded, less rain predicted

By Reginald Stanley. Posted December 29, 2019, 10:59 PM.

A cold upper low off the California coast is bringing rain to the central part of the state Sunday, making its way down towards Southern California, however earlier predictions have since been adjusted as the storm looks to remain well offshore.

Storm totals across the inland valleys were originally forecast between 1/4 and 1/2 inch of rainfall, with higher totals in foothill and mountain locations. On Sunday, these predictions were downgraded to less than 0.1 inch in most valleys, and possibly no measurable precipitation at all in the eastern valleys. Wrap-around moisture, however, is still expected to bring snow to the mountains of Riverside and San Bernardino counties Monday - with snow levels down to approximately 3500 feet above sea level. Following the storm's departure, high pressure is expected to build over Southern California for the remainder of the week, allowing for a warming trend well into next week.
