A couple of locations in Riverside were the hottest in the nation Monday and Tuesday, as Southern California's inland valleys remained in a winter warm wave.

The National Weather Service reported Monday's national high temperature as 88°F at Riverside Municipal Airport. Tuesday's national high was 91°F at the UCR station in Riverside, which is not far from WeatherCurrents' Riverside station in Canyon Crest.

WeatherCurrents' Riverside station recorded 90°F on Monday and 86°F on Tuesday. The station is not currently included in the NWS hourly and daily observations, although our Temecula station is, which recorded the national high temperature on Sunday.

The nearly station high ridge looks set to deliver another couple of days of warm temperatures before flattening out over the weekend. Temperatures will continue to run 15 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. Today might be the warmest of the sequence, with some record high temperatures for January 4th falling.

Weekend weather will be influenced by another inside slider closed low pressure system. Originally predicted to track into New Mexico, it now looks like the system will pass through Nevada and along the California / Arizona border. Colder temperatures will come with it, and some moderate northeast winds are currently predicted Sunday and Monday, mainly in prone locations (canyons and passes).
