The pattern was set to change by Tuesday, though, with milder weather predicted Monday through Wednesday, followed by warmer temperatures into next weekend.

Memorial Day weekend is often pointed to as the unofficial start of summer, and 2010's did not disappoint. Among the 13 WeatherCurrents stations, Saturday's high temperatures ranged from 79°F in Fallbrook to 91°F in Lake Elsinore and Wildomar. Sunday was even warmer, with Lake Elsinore and Wildomar recording 96°F, Menifee 95°F, San Jacinto and Hemet at 93°F, and Moreno Valley and Perris at 92°F. To the southwest, Fallbrook (78°F), De Luz (79°F), Temecula (85°F) and Murrieta and French Valley (87°F) were not quite as warm. Riverside had middle ground at 89°F.

The sun was shining all day Sunday around the region.

Temperatures were expected to fall a few degrees Monday, and a few more Tuesday, as a low pressure trough rolls through.

Longer term, NOAA's Climate Prediction Center forecasts normal temperatures for the second week of June.
