The previous coolest year in Temecula was 2001, with an average high temperature of 77.7°F, an average low of 50.0°F, and an average temperature of 61.6°F.

By comparison, in 2010 Temecula had an average high temperature of 76.0°F, an average low of 49.8°F, and an overall average temperature of 60.8°F.

Overall, nine of thirteen WeatherCurrents locations recorded their coolest years. Only Hemet, French Valley, San Jacinto and Wildomar did not. Hemet had the distinction of being the only location slightly above its normal temperature.

It was the coolest year on record everywhere else, including longer running WeatherCurrents stations in Murrieta (60.8°F average), Lake Elsinore (63.7°F), Menifee (62.7°F) and Fallbrook (61.3°F).

The dramatically cooler than normal summer was reflected in the number of days above 100°F. Lake Elsinore, which usually leads the category, had just 32, compared to 61 in 2009. Wildomar had 31 days in triple-digits in 2010, Menifee had 27, Hemet registered 24, Perris had 20, Murrieta and Moreno Valley each had 17, Riverside managed 16, Temecula recorded 14, French Valley had 12, De Luz recorded 5, and Fallbrook registered 2.

Only 2002 had a lower average low in Temecula, at 49.2°F
