Thunderstorm Produces Downpour Thursday

A chance of rain turned into a downpour in parts of Riverside and northern San Diego counties Thursday afternoon, with rain and hail reported at all eleven WeatherCurrents stations. In San Jacinto, a cloudburst produced 1.2" of rain between 10am and 12pm. Another thunderstorm over the Temecula Valley dropped 0.80" in Central Temecula, and 0.60" in south Temecula, in the noon hour. The Murrieta station (in northwest Murrieta) received 0.08", but heavy rain and hail were reported in other parts of the city. Hail was reported in Fallbrook, which picked up a quick 0.10". Other notable rain totals as of Thursday afternoon were 0.20" in De Luz, 0.12" in Hemet, and 0.13" in Sun City. The best chance of showers and thunderstorms continues to be tonight and Friday, according to NWS forecasts. The slow-moving storm, a cutoff low, was expected to be around through Sunday morning. |
