One report on the Poomacha Fire indicates that the community on Palomar is still threatened, but the observatory is still up there. Flames from Poomacha on Palomar Mountain were reportedly visible to the northeast in Aguanga last night. Other areas threatened were Mesa Grande Indian Reservation. The latest evacuations from the fire were to Borrego Springs High School.

The Rice Canyon Fire does not appear to have advanced much in the last day.

Weather conditions should be even more favorable today with temperatures down about five degrees and onshore flow continuing. Poor air quality from smoke and ash should continue today, but should be marginally better than Thursday.

The latest San Diego County Emergency Services fire map is here. Note fewer red spots. Almost all new burns from the Poomacha fire are on the north slopes of the Palomar mountain range. Also note the spread of the Horno/Ammo Fire on Camp Pendleton.

Once again, no part of Riverside County is under immediate threat at this point.
