First big storm of season inbound: Heaviest rain since last winter forecast

A slow moving storm system will affect southern California on the weekend, bringing the heaviest rain since February across the Inland Empire and north San Diego County.

The moisture will stream in on Friday, and rain will begin on Friday evening. The rain continues Saturday with the chance of a thunderstorm, and becomes more showery Saturday afternoon and evening. The showers continue overnight Saurday and end on Sunday.

Rain totals are expected to be 0.50 to 1.75 inches across the Inland Empire/ North (S.D.) County. Mountain areas will see 1 to 3 inches of rain below 5,000 feet. A few southwest facing mountain slopes in San Bernardino County may see as much as 4 to 5 inches. From 5,000 to 6,500 feet there could be several inches of snow, 1 to 2 feet of snow are possible above 6,500 feet.
