The first of a series of four storms soaked the inland valleys on Monday, delivering rainfall that was in line with predictions.
Totals were an inch or more across Western Riverside and Northern San Diego counties. The storm hit heaviest in the south and lightest in the north, following the classic pattern of most winter storms.
The highest totals were in Murrieta (1.80"), De Luz (1.79"), west of Temecula, and in Fallbrook (1.66").
Some other areas in Murrieta recorded even higher totals. Laurie Kern, in the central part of the city, reported 2.40".
French Valley, north of Temecula and east of Murrieta, was next at 1.65", followed by Temecula at 1.42". 1.60" was recorded in the Temecula Valley Wine Country.
Totals just over one inch were recorded at all of the other WeatherCurrents stations. The lowest total was 1.01" at Perris, which was adjusted with a manual rain gauge on site. Hemet received 1.05" of rain, and Riverside, in Canyon Crest, got 1.06".
Three more storms were predicted to add another three to five inches to Monday's storm over the rest of the week, with the next due by Tuesday afternoon.
