Thunderstorms, Humidity Possible Wednesday Afternoon

Greater than normal humidity and a 30% chance of thunderstorms is accompanying a moist, monsoonal air mass moving in from the southeast this afternoon from the Gulf of California. Moisture has been building for several days, but mainly east of the San Jacinto mountains out in the deserts. The air flow pattern today may bring those clouds into the inland valleys. The highest probability of thunderstorms in western Riverside County this afternoon will be to the southeast, in the Anza Valley spreading westward potentially into the San Jacinto, Menifee and Temecula valleys. Cloud activity in northern San Diego County is north of Escondido and generally east of Fallbrook, but may reach into those areas later this afternoon. A second injection of moisture is predicted for this weekend, when remnants from Hurricane Emily arrive in the region. Emily slammed into Mexico and southern Texas earlier this morning and was moving generally west. |
