At the noon hour, WeatherCurrents stations in Hemet (0.04"), De Luz (0.01"), Menifee (0.03"), Murrieta (0.01") and Wildomar (0.01") had tallied measurable rainfall. Light rain had also fallen in Temecula and Moreno Valley, according to reports, but not quite enough yet to register.

Unlike the summertime monsoonal moisture, usually confined to the mountains and deserts but sometimes straying west, the chance of rain for Thursday and Friday covers most of Southern California. The cause is a low pressure system to the south, which is pulling the moisture up into the region.

The thunderstorms replaced blistering heat recorded over the weekend and Monday, which had sent temperatures soaring to near or over 110°F in many inland locations.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms was set to end Friday evening, but partly cloudy skies were expected to remain through Saturday.
