The Poomacha Fire along Highway 76 in San Diego County has 659 firefighters assigned. It has joined with the Witch Fire to the south in the Rincon reservation area. Cal Fire is reporting that Valley Center, Pauma Valley, Hidden Meadows, Deer Springs and Palomar are threatened. They are also reporting Vista as threatened, but since that is miles to the west, that must be a mistake.

There are no significant updates for the Rice Canyon Fire or the Rosa fire.

Santa Ana breezes were still blowing through Temecula, Murrieta and Perris in the early afternoon.

Smoke from the Poomacha Fire was heavy over south Temecula in the morning and early afternoon.

Up in the Riverside area, smoke from fires in Highland and the San Bernardino mountains was leading to poor air quality.

Many additional firefighters had arrived in the past day to fight the Poomacha and Rice Canyon fires. Parts of De Luz canyon were evacuated overnight ahead of one finger of the Rice fire advancing to the north.
