Another week, another storm

Posted October 25, 2010, 11:13 AM.

The unusually cool, wet weather pattern that's persisted for over a week continued Monday morning with more rainfall as another storm arrived.

On Monday morning, Fallbrook and De Luz led the way with 0.29". Moreno Valley was next at 0.21", followed by Lake Elsinore at 0.07", Hemet, San Jacinto and Wildomar at 0.06", Temecula at 0.05", Riverside at 0.03", Perris at 0.02" and French Valley at 0.01".

Murrieta and Menifee had yet to record measurable rainfall for the new storm.

There's been measured rainfall in the inland valleys for eight out the last ten days. Only Saturday was dry, and that was despite a forecasted chance of showers.

Normally, October is marked by dry, warm conditions and the threat of Santa Ana winds. This year, all that's been all but absent, although weak offshore flow is in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. October is currently expected to end with another round of showers.

The wet month is also in spite of a La Nina condition in the equatorial Pacific, which normally dampens rain expectations.

For the month, Fallbrook has recorded 2.95" to date. Other totals were also high: De Luz (2.78"), Temecula (1.86"), Hemet (1.59"), Lake Elsinore (1.53"), Menifee (1.32"), San Jacinto (1.20"), Perris (0.97"). Totals below an inch for the month were: French Valley (0.96"), Moreno Valley (0.74"), Murrieta (0.62"), and Riverside (0.38").

The last wet October was in 2004, which was the beginning of a very wet rain season that approached all-time records. That year, Temecula receive 6.02", Murrieta 7.33", Fallbrook 7.70" and Hemet 6.95".
