Fallbrook Rainfall Record Surpassed

Posted April 29, 2005, 9:20 AM.

With 0.98" recorded yesterday in Fallbrook, and 37.28" for the season, 2004-2005 is now the wettest rain season on record. The previous record was 36.85", recorded in 1992-1993 by George F. Emerich, who maintained records back to the 1976-1977 rain season in Fallbrook. There are no older records in the area.

In downtown Los Angeles, rainfall for 2004-2005 is 1.12" short of the record, as reported by the Los Angeles Times (registration required) this morning. The 1883-1884 total of 38.18" is considered the standard for the region, since records for Los Angeles go back further in time than any other community in Southern California. This year's rainfall in downtown Los Angeles stood at 37.06" last night.

The rainfall season runs from July 1st through June 20th

Records are not available for most of the other communities WeatherCurrents serves. In some communities, such as Murrieta WeatherCurrents' weather stations represent the only known, consistent rainfall recordings.
