Strong Storm Coming Friday Night; Heavy Rainfall Possible Through Saturday

A strong Pacific storm with a subtropical tap is predicted to hit the region on Friday night, with light rain possible this afternoon through this evening. As of early Friday afternoon, parts of Northern California were beginning to get soaked and the bulk of the storm was moving down the coast. High winds were expected to accompany the storm, and flooding was a strong possibility, especially on Saturday. National Weather Service predictions were for two to five inches of rain on the coast and in the inland valleys through Saturday, with the next storm arriving Saturday night. Places with southwestern orthographic exposure were expected to get even more. Mudslides in the recent fire areas were a strong possibility. Heavy snowfall in the mountains has also been predicted, and the weather service was advising people not to travel to the mountains for the next couple of days until the storm is through. |
