Thursday thunderstorms produce some precipitation inland

By Reginald Stanley. Posted July 13, 2013, 2:36 PM.

A disturbance over northern Mexico moved northwest over Southern California on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing cloudy conditions and thunderstorms with it. This helped keep daytime temperatures down, but held overnight temperatures up due to the humidity and cloud cover.

Some sprinkles fell Wednesday afternoon, but weren't enough to measure. Thursday brought more thunderstorm activity that produced some of the first measurable precipitation of the new 2013-14 water year in a few WeatherCurrents communities.

Perris recorded the most with 0.04" inches on Thursday. French Valley and San Bernardino both followed with 0.02" inches. 0.01" also fell in Menifee, Moreno Valley, and East Murrieta (reported by Reginald Stanley).

Thunderstorms also occurred back on the 1st, although that event was much smaller. Only Riverside's Canyon Crest recorded 0.01" early that morning. 0.01" was also reported that morning in East San Jacinto (courtesy of Monty Parrott).

Thunderstorms had mostly left the region by Friday, with the only remaining moisture confined to the mountains. Monsoonal moisture could return to the area late next week.
