First taste of summer across region early this week

By Reginald Stanley. Posted June 10, 2019, 3:00 PM.

Strong high pressure is responsible for soaring temperatures across the Inland Empire and much of Southern California today, as part of one of the region's first moderate heat waves of the year.

High temperatures had begun climbing since Saturday, with several inland communities reaching or exceeding 100 degrees on Sunday. As of 3 PM Monday afternoon, 11 out of the currently active 17 WeatherCurrents stations reached 100 degrees today. Lake Elsinore and Wildomar were the hottest locations Monday afternoon, with high temperatures of 103 and 104 degrees, respectively. The heat is set to continue into Tuesday and triple-digits will still possible in warmer parts of the Inland Empire on Wednesday, before high pressure weakens significantly from Thursday onward. Milder days and morning marine layer is set to return late in the week.
