Dry this week, wet the next

Posted February 16, 2010, 6:19 AM.

Enjoy the dry, sunny weather this week, because longer range forecasts are hinting that wet weather will return for the last week of February and the early part of March.

With one to two and half inches of rain already received this month, on top of a wet January, this week's break from the storms is a welcome one.

Predictions are indicating that the break will end by next Tuesday, perhaps before. At least two storms are predicted to bring rain to Southern California next week. Their exact timing and intensity is uncertain, but it does look like the month will end on a wet note.

Average rainfall for February at WeatherCurrents stations ranges from 1.48" in Riverside to 3.23" in Hemet, 3.65" in Temecula, 3.92" in Fallbrook, 3.99" in Lake Elsinore, and 4.17" in Murrieta. The rain next week could send totals for the month past their averages.
