Freeze Warning for Saturday Morning

Posted December 26, 2008, 8:29 PM.

A cold air mass over Southern California was helping drive temperatures down below freezing Friday night. Most inland areas were predicted to experience temperatures at or below freezing Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Predicted low temperatures were 27°F in San Jacinto, 28°F in Wildomar, 29°F in Temecula, Murrieta, Lake Elsinore and Hemet, 31°F in Moreno Valley and Perris, and 32°F in Menifee.

Only De Luz, Fallbrook and the Canyon Crest area of Riverside were expected to escape freezing temperatures, with 33°F predicted, but will likely get frost in some areas.

Frost and freeze susceptible plants will need to taken care of overnight for each of the next two mornings.

Sunday morning was expected to be only a couple of degrees warmer. Another round of frost and freeze warnings will likely be necessary for Sunday morning.

Some areas had already recorded freezing temperatures Friday morning. Wildomar and Moreno Valley were the coldest at 31°F, followed closely by Murrieta, Hemet, Perris, Lake Elsinore and Menifee at 32°F.
